Coming up at The Mother Church in Boston, MA . . .

  • Sunday, Dec 31st – Participating in First Night, a Boston-wide event, there will be 3 Sunday services and Sunday School sessions. In addition, the church will be open for church tours from 1-6pm. At 8:15pm, there will be a half-hour chiming concert on the church plaza. Both the Reading Room and the MBE Library will be open all day and will have special events.

Happening now at The Mary Baker Eddy Library . . .

  • New exhibit: Sensational Press. Radical Response. Explores the often tabloid-like press coverage of Mary Baker Eddy's personal life and the motivations behind her founding The Christian Science Monitor newspaper at age 87. This new exhibit is a permanent addition to the Library's 2nd floor Monitor Gallery. Many of the articles and items in the exhibit have never before been displayed.

  • A Church in the Neighborhood photography exhibit runs through Dec 31. It highlights 100 years of The Mother Church Extension, which opened in 1906. The exhibit focuses on some of the many changes that have occurred to the church, the Plaza and the Back Bay neighborhood.

(The Library will be closed Dec 24, 25 and Jan 1, 2.)
